Project Management – fashion or necessity

next level consulting attended the annual conference of SPPR, national association of IPMA. SPPR expends the last year significant. This is Peter Sochna’s report.

On January 25th, 2006, next level consulting took part on conference organized by SPPR (Slovak Project Management Association) in Trnava, Slovakia. Goal of event was to inform participants about present status in education of project managers in Slovakia and to present project management tools and products.

SPPR is a member of International Project Management Association (IPMA) and co-operates also with the Project Management Institute (PMI) closely. SPPR was established in 1994 and supports project management development in Slovakia as well as provides certification based on IPMA standards. next level consulting is corporate member and partner of SPPR for second year.

The program of the conference was covered by SPPR members. Mr.Travnik, president of SPPR, opened the agenda with presentation about current status in association, informed also about successful certification validation in last year by IPMA. Mr. Takac (board member of SPPR) afterwards shared his experiences with EU projects. SPPR will take part in big European PM Survey project – Project Orientation international, which was presented by Mr.Prokop (SPPR). Project Portfolio Management seems to be a hot issue also in Slovakia, two presentations were held to this topic.

Presentation of next level consulting was hold by Peter Sochna (next level consultant) and its topic was “Current Trends in Education of Project Managers”. The presentation itself took attention, especially career path and development plans for project management personnel were most discussed issues.

next level consulting presented also its Project Management open courses in Slovak language, which will be organised by next level academy in 2006 in Bratislava.
